“Sweet Tooth” is a Netflix series created by Jim Mickle and based on the comic of the same name by Jeff Lemire. The fantasy drama premiered on the streaming platform on June 4, 2021, and has quickly established itself as a favorite in several countries.
The Netflix series tells the story of Gus (Christian Convery), a half-human and half-deer boy who must seek answers to what happened in the post-apocalyptic world in which he lives. Considering the huge cliffhanger at the end of the first installment, there is a good chance that the series will have a second season.
Throughout the eight episodes, “Sweet Tooth” presents us with several mysteries. The unknown origin of the H5G9 virus that has collapsed the world’s population; what is Birdy’s whereabouts and what will happen to Gus. Although this has left fans with doubts, there is another point that has aroused public interest: who is the mysterious narrator of Netflix’s “Sweet Tooth”.
The invisible narrator of “Sweet Tooth,” a husky but friendly voice that helps viewers navigate the series, is played by none other than James Brolin. The actor is a Hollywood legend, he has starred in a number of notable movies and shows including “The Amityville Horror”, “Traffic” and “Life in Pieces.”
The 80-year-old performer recently spoke about “Sweet Tooth” in an interview with Daily News, where he detailed that he was able to record his role from the comfort of his home. “What’s so wonderful right now is that the Downeys were able to do this so well in the middle of COVID,” he stated.
The narrator plays an important role in the series, serving as the bookends for the episodes. Brolin’s narrative is the connective tissue that ties together the very different stories of Gus, a hybrid searching for his mother; Aditya Singh (Adeel Akhtar), a doctor seeking a cure; and Aimee (Dania Ramirez), a survivor who seeks to save hybrids.
